Fall is here.
The kids are back in school. Your calendar has breathing room again. The year-end scramble hasn’t started yet.
What if this isn’t just another quarter? What if it’s your moment?
The Pattern We’re Missing
Here’s what I’ve noticed: Many of us treat time as if it’s all the same. January feels like July feels like October. But seasons matter—not just for farmers, but for anyone trying to make something happen.
Fall is different. People pay attention differently. They commit differently. The distractions of summer are gone. The busy-ness of December hasn’t arrived.
This isn’t productivity advice. It’s about recognizing when the conditions are right for the work that matters.
Why Now Works
Everyone’s actually here. No vacation schedules. No holiday conflicts. When you need someone’s attention, you can get it.
Energy flows differently. Something about shorter days and cooler air makes people want to build things. To finish things. To start things that matter.
You can see the finish line. Thanksgiving isn’t that far away. You can sprint toward something specific instead of wandering toward “someday.”
Here’s the Simple Framework
Don’t overthink this. Here’s what works:
Pick three-to-five things. Not thirty. No more than five. The ones that would change everything else if you accomplished them.
Give yourself permission to say no to everything else. This isn’t the season for small improvements. It’s the season for meaningful change.
Check in weekly. Not to stress yourself out, but to course-correct. Ask: “Is this still the right direction?”
What Matters Now
Maybe it’s finally launching that project you’ve been thinking about for months.
Maybe it’s having the conversation that could change your organization’s trajectory.
Maybe it’s building the habit that would transform how you feel every morning.
Maybe it’s connecting with someone whose partnership could multiply your impact.
The question isn’t whether you have time. The question is whether you’ll use the time you have.
The Gifts of December
Here’s the part most people miss: December isn’t for grinding. It’s for reflecting.
After you sprint through these 90 days, you’ll need to process what you learned. To plan what comes next. To rest so you can sprint again.
The seasons aren’t fighting against you—they’re working with you. If you let them.
Your Next Move
So what’s it going to be?
Not what you should do. Not what others expect. What would make you proud when you look back at this fall?
Write it down. Tell someone. Start today.
Because the conditions are right. Right now.
And conditions like this don’t come around that often.
